Our journey begins at Metekhi Rock, with spectacular views over the Old Town and the Mtkvari River. We’ll take the cable car up to Mother of Georgia and then explore the ancient sulfur bath district and an ethnographic museum.
We’ll learn about the famous visitors to Tbilisi’s baths and their importance in the city’s history. We’ll walk through the Fig Gorge, where you’ll see a remarkable petrified tree root inside the rock - a unique symbol of life - and climb a winding staircase to discover traditional Tbilisi courtyards.
We’ll continue to the former Meidan Square, once an important stop on the Silk Road, and walk through Meidan Bazaar to one of the liveliest streets in the city. Along the way, we’ll meet the famous Sergei Parajanov artwork and a traditional Georgian tamada.
We’ll cross the Bridge of Peace and, if we’re lucky, see a miniature performance at the famous Rezo Gabriadze clock tower.

Sololaki & Kala: The Soul of Old Tiflis
Every city has its own hidden gem. On this tour, you’ll discover not one, but two historic districts of Tbilisi - Sololaki and Kala, and experience the atmosphere of old Tiflis.
During the Russian Imperial period, Tbilisi became a major cultural and political centre of the South Caucasus. This was also the time when new districts began to develop, including the elegant Sololaki.
Known locally as “the second Paris,” Sololaki was once home to wealthy families who competed with one another in the beauty and decoration of their houses. Almost every building has its own story, and many were once home to famous Georgian and Russian writers, artists and public figures.
We’ll visit the recently restored Lado Gudiashvili Square and explore the authentic streets of Kala, one of the oldest parts of Tbilisi.
Along the way, we’ll hear fascinating stories about the intertwined lives of Georgian and Russian writers, including the events that brought famous Russian poets to the Caucasus. We’ll discover the architecture of bourgeois Tiflis and learn about the city’s multicultural past.
We’ll visit Ateshgah, the former Zoroastrian fire temple, and see beautiful historic houses with their distinctive glass and stained-glass balconies.
This walk offers a glimpse into the Tbilisi of another era - where Georgian, Russian, Persian and European influences came together to create the unique character of the city.
