Truso Gorge Hike

Overview

Alien landscapes, the noisy Terek, travertine formations, mineral springs and lake, ancient towers and the crazy beauty of the wild nature — this is the Truso Gorge, once part of the Great Silk Road.

Our trip will start from the abandoned village Kvemo Okrokana, we will follow the narrow Terek Gorge, which will lead us to the waste valley, where we will explore travertines and ancient ruins.

Difficulty level

Easy to moderate hiking. Can be done with kids, however the trek to the Zakagori fortress is about 22 km (both ways) — it can be shortcuted till the mineral lake (10 km both ways).

Start point

We pick you up in Gudauri or Stepantsminda, the road to Kvemo Okrokana village from where our hike starts takes around an hour.
